Floyd John Hermreck, age 83, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away suddenly at home on November 6, 2010. He was born February 21, 1927 in Richmond, Kansas, the son of John Joseph and Olivia Josephine (Rockers) Hermreck. Floyd attended Round Prairie and Junction schools, Garnett High School and then helped on the family farm. Floyd was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1946 and discharged in 1947. He was employed at Garnett Church Furniture Factory until he enlisted into the Army again in 1950. Floyd served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He was discharged in 1953 and returned to work at the Church Furniture Factory and farming. He was united in marriage to Louann Landwehr on October 4, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri. Floyd made pulpits, altars, and other religious furniture including chairs and an altar used by Pope John Paul II in 1987. He also worked at BEHM in Osawatomie and Taylor Forge in Paola. Floyd loved to farm and loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Garnett V.F.W., the Garnett Knights of Columbus, and a member of St. John's Parish, Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Olivia Hermreck; a sister and brother-in-law, Louann and Bill Maley. Floyd is survived by his wife Louann of the home; two sons, David Hermreck and wife Nancy of Garnett, Kansas; Tony Hermreck and wife Brenda of Greeley, Kansas; Five daughters, Marcia Hall and husband Brian of Stow, Ohio; Rosalie Rockers and husband Tom of Greeley, Kansas; Paula Lybarger and husband Alan of Overland Park, Kansas; Shirley Hale and husband Richard of Ottawa, Kansas; Tina Katzer and husband Ray of Lawrence, Kansas ;three brothers, Roy Hermreck and Katherine of Garnett, Kansas; Bob Hermreck and Twyla of Wichita, Kansas; Gene Hermreck and Daisy of Garnett, Kansas; a sister, Betty Zigelhofer and husband Ralph of Stringtown, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30, Tuesday morning, November 9, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church, Greeley, with burial following at St. John's Cemetery, Greeley. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening, November 8, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church with visitation following at St. John's Hall, Greeley.
