Frances L. "Francie" Drybread, 56, of Moore, Oklahoma, formerly of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Francie was born May 7, 1952, in Iola, Kansas, to Francisco "Frank" and Doris L. (Tuttle) Ornelas. She grew up in Iola and attended Iola High School. On Sept. 20, 1969, she married Charles E. Drybread in Iola. They made their home in Oklahoma, California and many other states and countries following his career with the U.S. Coast Guard and later with the U.S. Navy. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1989 and they returned to Iola. Charles died Dec. 3, 2002. Francie worked at the Allen County Hospital in Iola in medical records before moving to Manhattan where she worked as a medical coordinator at the military hospital at Ft. Riley. She moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where she also worked as a medical coordinator at the V.A. Medical Center until her health failed. She moved to Moore, OK, to be near her sons and was working at the V.A. Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Francie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola and had been attending the First Baptist Church in Moore. Survivors include 2 sons, Aaron Drybread & wife, Mary of Moore, OK, and Adam Drybread of Dallas, TX; 4 Grandchildren, Shelby, Aiden & Marissa Drybread and Ali Bryant; 1 brother, Donnie Ornelas of Iola, KS and 1 sister, Delores Silcox of Iola, KS. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey L. Ornelas. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2008, at Highland Cemetery in Iola. The Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will preside. The family suggests memorials to Fisher House Foundation to aid military families suffering from illness or injury or the Breast Cancer Foundation, and they may be left at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
