Frances Marvelle Harris, age 84, of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola. Marvelle was born February 23, 1935, at Centerville, Kansas to Charles O. and Frances I. (Brown) Grosdidier.
Marvelle attended and graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1953. That same year Marvelle and Delbert Ray Harris were united in marriage on March 30, 1953, in Fort Scott, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children, Darrel, Danny, and Debbie. For many years,Marvelle worked for McCollum's Market in various positions throughout the store. Marvelle then worked for the United States Post Office for nine years as a clerk, for the last thirteen years until her retirement she was Postmaster at the Kincaid post office.
Marvelle enjoyed family get together's and cooking large meals for everyone. There was always a place at her table for anyone. She enjoyed being outside gardening, fishing, taking care of her cows, her dogs and many other animals. Marvelle was an avid seamstress and quilter, making many quilts and clothes for her children and grandchildren over the years.
Marvelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Delbert; and one son Darrel Harris and her beloved dog Sailor.
Marvelle is survived by her two children, son Dan Harris and wife Terry, daughter Debbie West and husband Gary both of Kincaid; one daughter-in-law Rhonda Lorenz of Olathe; one sister Marlene Walburn and husband Steve of Colony; one brother Wesley Grosdidier of Garnett; companion Bob Garrett; five grandchildren Dusty and JD Harris and wife Angie, Lindsay Jo Young, Levi and wife Jessica and Luke West and wife Shauna; two step grandchildren Ashley and Sara; seven great grandchildren Ethan and Wyatt Harris, Trailin and Tayah Young, Paisley West, Garon and Gracelynn West; two step great-grandchildren Bryce and Kailyn; and numerous other relatives.
A memorial service for Marvelle will be held at 10:30 am Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Kincaid Selma United Methodist Church in Kincaid. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials in honor of Marvelle are suggested to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (A.C.A.R.F.) and can be left with the funeral home. Online condolences for the family can be left at
