Frank Nelson Johnson, Jr., age 89, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Yates Center Health & Rehab, Yates Center, Kansas. Frank was born October 7, 1931, in Yates Center, Kansas, to Frank N. Johnson, Sr. and Maude (Trueblood) Johnson.
Frank graduated from Yates Center High School in 1950. He worked for J.C. Penney in Junction City, Kansas, before he was drafted into the army. Frank served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. Upon his discharge from the army, Frank returned to Junction City and worked for J.C. Penney for one year, then he returned to Yates Center and attended college in Iola and worked for J.C. Penney in Iola. Frank graduated from Iola Junior College in 1957. He started working for the United States Post Office in Yates Center in 1961, retiring from the postal service in 1989.
He and Eva Rife were married October 23, 1964, in Yates Center, Kansas.
Frank’s first-love was Eva and Mick; his second-love was for younger folks. His passion was trains and fire trucks. Frank enjoyed music and traveling.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents.
Frank is survived by his wife, Eva, of the home; his son, Mick and significant other, Shawna Lenard, Yates Center, Kansas; adopted daughter, Anna Splechter, Chanute, Kansas; and numerous friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the Yates Center Cemetery, Yates Center, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Yates Center Fire Department or the Yates Center Town Hall, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
