Frank Joseph Peine, age 93 of Princeton, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Frank was born on August 24, 1917, in Richmond, Kansas, the son of Herman and Mary (Miller) Peine. He was raised southwest of Richmond. When his father passed away in 1936, he helped his mother Mary raise his younger brothers and sisters. He was united in marriage to Florence Frances Sobba on February 27, 1946. For the first 5 years of their marriage, they made a living by farming and raising livestock north of Scipio, Kansas. In 1951 they moved to a farm south of Waverly, Kansas, where they continued to farm and raise livestock. In 1994, he sold his beloved farm to move to Ottawa, Kansas, so he could be closer to Florence. Two years later he moved to Princeton, Kansas, where he put in a new home so he could take care of his wife and also to have a few cows to raise and a beautiful garden to tend which were two of his passions in life. In the last year and two months he had resided at Ottawa Vintage Park assisted living. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary Peine; his wife, Florence Peine in December of 2007; three sisters, Elizabeth Peine, Teresa Miller, and Clara Rues; three brothers, Gregory, Leo, and Louis Peine. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo Stone and husband Jim of Princeton, Kansas; one granddaughter, Glenda Sak of Princeton, Kansas; two great grandchildren, Keith and Alexandria Sak; three step granddaughters, Jennifer, Cassie and Crystal Stone; two step great grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Collins and Mary Ann Collins; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ransom Memorial Hospital Charitable Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
