Fred A. Fillmore, Jr., 84, of rural Colony, Kansas died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas. Fred was born August 17, 1925 on a farm south of Osage City, Kansas the son of Fred A. and Ethel (Roakey) Fillmore, Sr. He grew up in the Osage City area. On January 21, 1950, Fred married Dorothy N. Croucher at Osage City. They lived and farmed on the Neosho River north of Burlington until John Redmond Reservoir was constructed. They relocated on a farm west of Colony where they presently live. Besides farming, Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, tractor pulls, and gardening. Fred leaves behind many friends and will be missed each morning by the Colony coffee shop crowd. Fillmore of the home 4 Daughters: Sherry Carter of LeRoy, KS, Susan Sharp of Leawood, MO, Synthia Renyer of Burlington, KS, and Shelia Luedke of Mandeville, LA Later in life, Fred raised three grandsons, Fred, J.L., and Michael Blevins 1 Brother: Clyde Fillmore of Osage City, KS 3 Sisters: Irma Born of Lebo, KS, Ruth Romine of Osage City, KS and Ann Bojack of Phoenix, AZ 11 Grandchildren & 9 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by a grandson, J.L. Blevins and six brothers. VISITATION: 6:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, KS FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. The Rev. Paul Jones will officiate.
