Brenda Gail Riley, 67, of Gas, Kansas, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas. Gail was born December 21, 1943, at Columbia, Missouri, the daughter of John Francis and Elizabeth (Betty) Forbis Kerr. She grew up on a farm south of Westphalia, Kansas, and attended Colony high school and later Emporia State University. Gail married Mickey McCord and they later divorced. On May 3, 1970, Gail married Larry Riley and they made their home in Welda and Iola before moving to Gas twelve years ago. She worked as a waitress at her mother's steakhouse, The Hilltop, in Welda, and as a beautician at her own shop in Welda and later in Iola. She then worked a number of years for F&S Supply Company before retiring. SURVIVORS: Her husband of 41 years: Larry L. Riley of the home 4 Children: Karen Riley & husband, Fred Conley of Independence, MO, Mike Riley & wife, Ann of Topeka, KS, Johnnie Riley & wife, Tiffany of Iola, KS, and Desirae Tyler & husband, Terry of Pittsburg, KS 10 Grandchildren: Dee, Brandon, Cierra, Nykki, Cody, Colbi, Cooper, Cali, Isaac & Tate 5 Great Grandchildren 1 Brother: Berkley Kerr of Silver Lake, KS She was preceded in death by parents and granddaughter, Zara Riley in 1998. VISITATION: 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Cremation will follow the visitation with inurnment at a later date in the Gas Cemetery. MEMORIAL CHOICES: Fee's Park at Gas, Kansas or Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
