Garvin Arthur Daniel, age 73, of Iola, KS, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Friday, September 25, 2015 on his farm, after a long illness. Garvin was born February 5, 1942 at Wasola, MO. He was the oldest of five children born to Arthur C. and Eula Daniel. He graduated from Ava (MO) High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Rose Joyce Diana Turner on August 31, 1963 at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Thornfield, MO. They became the parents of seven children. Garvin operated a saw mill, drove trucks and farmed. He was also a past member of the LaHarpe Lions Club and a past board member of the Allen County Farm Bureau. Garvin loved to spend time in nature fishing, hunting and working cattle on his farm along with helping family and friends with any requests for assistance. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur C. and Eula Daniel, sisters Violet Stratton, Ruth Wilder and Betty Lou Daniel. He is survived by his wife Diana of the home; his brother Joe (Rina) Daniel of Nixa, MO, seven children, Jessica (Steve) Gerdsen of Rogers, AR, Diana (Tom) Nichols of Parker, CO, Michele (Billy) Weaver of Paola, KS, Susan (Chris) Dalton of Elgin, TX, Garvin (Elizabeth) Daniel, Jr. of Lawrence, KS, Ginger (Jayme) Eiler of New Port Richey, FL and Brett Daniel of Iola, KS,nine grandchildren, Danielle Gerdsen, Derek Gerdsen, Austyn Iden, Ashley Iden, Sarah Nichols, Isaac Daniel, Rebecca Nichols, Sebastian Daniel, and Megan Nichols, and one great-granddaughter, Hazeline Gerdsen. Garvin was cremated. A private family gathering was held. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association and left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, who assisted the family.
