Gary W. Farrar, age 76, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at home in Garnett, surrounded by loved ones.
Gary Wayne Farrar was born on October 8, 1946, in Garnett, Kansas. He was the first of three children born to Hubert Ryland and Juanita Helen (Cunningham) Farrar. Gary graduated from Garnett High School in 1964. He was a veteran of the VietNam war, serving in the U.S. Army from December of 1965 until he was honorably discharged in September of 1967. Following his time in the Army, Gary returned to Garnett, where he was united in marriage to Janice Worthington in February of 1968. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Kimberlie. They later divorced. Gary was a truck driver for the bulk of his working years. He moved to Colorado where he spent many years hauling meat to California and produce back to Colorado. In his spare time he could often be found waxing his truck and adding lights to his truck. He married Linda Graff and they made their home in Fort Morgan, Colorado. They later divorced. In 2016, Gary's health necessitated him moving to Claremore, Oklahoma to be near his daughter. In 2022 Gary then moved to Garnett, where he lived out his remaining days.
Gary loved many of his vehicles over the years, some of his favorites included his 1966 Chevelle and his gold Corvette. Gary took pride in all that he did including the fact that you would never catch him without his starched shirt and blue jeans and his hair perfectly styled. If you got to ride in the car with Gary, the conversation would invariably include some "semi talk" when you would learn that Peterbilt's are the Cadillac of trucks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Dennis Farrar in 1983.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Kimberlie Mills of Garnett, Kansas; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sister, Debbie Hirt of Garnett.
A Visitation in Celebration of Gary's life will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
