Gary Garver, age 86, passed away at his home in Iola, Kansas, on September 17, 2024.

Gary was born on July 15, 1938, in rural Allen County to Ray and Nora (Hamilton) Garver. He graduated from Moran High School with the class of 1956. Shortly after, he married his best friend, Mary Jane Linthicum, in June of 1956.

Gary enjoyed playing his guitar and going fishing. He collected Iola memorabilia, and enjoyed watching the Royals play. Gary met a lot of people and made many friends through his years long career in law enforcement. He was known to be very outgoing and liked jokes. Gary would spend his free time gardening, specifically tomatoes, but would often give his produce away to neighbors and family. He was an active member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association.

Gary was preceded in death by both parents and siblings, Delbert Garver, Evelyn Hermstein, and Doris Church.

Gary is survived by his wife of 68 years; children, Clay (Susan) Garver, Mike (Shelly) Garver, and Nancy (Sean) Ward; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other beloved friends and family.

The family will plan a private service for Gary at a later date. Memorials may be made out to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) or the Kansas Peace Officers Association, and left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
