Gary L. Nordt, age 75, of Humboldt, Kansas, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at his home. Gary was born February 21, 1936, on a farm east of Humboldt, the son of Henry Carl and Edna Charlotta (Groennert) Nordt. The family moved to Humboldt when he was 10 and he graduated from Humboldt High School in 1954. On July 27, 1956, Gary married Wanda L. Scott at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iola. They have made their home in Humboldt most of their married lives. Gary worked construction in the area most of his life. He also worked at Humboldt High School until he retired. He had been doing glass and screen repair until his death. He has been a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt all of his life. He belonged to the men's club at the church and helped with the church floats for Biblesta. His other memberships include the Humboldt Lion's Club and Humboldt Alumni. He enjoyed playing softball until he was 60. He enjoyed all sports and particularly enjoyed watching his children's and grandchildren's games. Gary also announced for HHS basketball games and enjoyed mentoring the youth. He was also blessed with a gentle singing voice and sang at many weddings,funerals and other occasions in the area. Nordt of the home 5 Children: Kelly Nordt of Humboldt, KS, Bryan Nordt & wife, Judy of Chanute, KS, Christy Nordt of Havertown, PA, Russell Nordt & wife, Sarah of Parsons, KS, and Annette Morris of Humboldt, KS 1 Sister: Violet Fabik of North Platte, NE 8 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter Many nieces and nephews VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2011, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
