Gary E. Schainost

Gary Evan Schainost, age 58, of Iola, Kansas, passed away January 10, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Gary was born October 7, 1963, in Garnett, Kansas, to Clark Schainost and Christine (Hoffman) Schainost.

Gary graduated in 1982 from Crest High School, Colony, Kansas, and then he attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.

Gary and Tracy LaCrone were married August 10, 1985, in Colony, Kansas. Gary was a farmer and rancher, and he later worked maintenance.

Gary liked ranching, cattle, hunting, fishing, camping, reloading, and making model rockets. He enjoyed taking things a part and putting them back together. Gary liked building things with his buddies.

Gary was preceded in death by his father; brother, Todd Schainost; and granddaughter, Bailey Collins.

Gary is survived by his wife, Tracy, of the home; daughters, Kristin (Christopher) Collins, El Dorado, Kansas, Patience (Trey) Kress, Iola, Kansas; son, Tanner (Alisha) Schainost, Pittsburg, Kansas; mother, Christine Schainost, Colony, Kansas; brother, Mike (Jeanie) Schainost, Garnett, Kansas; sister-in-law Lois Schainost; grandchildren, Tayven Kress, Cooper Collins, Cameron Collins, and Tommy Schainost on the way; three nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery, Colony, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
