Gaynell Fern Hobbs, 80, of Iola passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Iola, Kansas. She was born September 16, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Clyde and Agnes (Groseclose) Wooley. She grew up in Oklahoma City, and graduated from Capitol Hill High School. She served as President of the Local Rubber Workers of America. She owned several businesses in Valley Falls, KS, and was an avid gardener who loved spending time outdoors. Gaynell was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter Katie Perkins. She is survived by her sons Clyde Eudy and Carol of Salem, Oregon, and Phil Perkins and wife Davida of Valley Falls, Kansas; daughters Jamie Coppin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Teresa Benoit and husband Mike of Bethany, Oklahoma; her sister Billie Hunter of Oklahoma City, and a brother Cleophas Wooley and wife LouAnn of Canton, Oklahoma; grandchildren James, Andrea, Courtney, Michael, Carrie, Brent, Phillip and Breanna; and numerous great grandchildren. Her family will host a memorial visitation, greeting friends from 10:00 to noon on Saturday, April 1 at 217 N Washington Avenue in Iola. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Edmond, Oklahoma.
