Gene Forsberg

Gene L. Forsberg, 78, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. Gene was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Elmer and Verna (Linton)Forsberg. He grew up at Hepler and moved to Iola at the age of 17. He served in the U.S. Army Gene worked at Highland Cemetery, Williams Monuments, B&B Theater and for Ed Barber Painting before he retired. He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Iola. He is survived by one brother, Donald Forsberg of Kansas City, MO, and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 siblings, Betty Mae O'Conner, Wayne Forsberg and Dwayne Forsberg. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL VISITATION: 10:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Inurnment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery north of Walnut, Kansas, at a later date.
