George P. Seitz, age 95, of Parker, Kansas, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012, at Life Care Center in Osawatomie, Kansas. He was born on March 3, 1917, in Edgerton, Kansas, the son of Fred M. and Rose (Hoffman) Seitz. He was raised on a farm in Eudora, Kansas. George entered the U.S. Army in 1941. He served in WWII with the 124th Artillery Field Battalion. He was a heavy machine gunner and carbine sharpshooter. He served in France, England, Luxembourg, Holland, and Germany. George received the Good Conduct medal, and was discharged in 1943. Following his time in the service, he moved to Kansas City where he was employed by Best Foods, working in the processing plant for 33 years. George was united in marriage to Lorraine Vaughn on December 10, 1951. George and Lorraine purchased a farm in the Fontana area in 1952, where they remained until she preceded him in death in 1992. He married Betty Shafer in 2000. They resided on the farm until 2008 when they moved to Parker. George's life was farming and gardening, retiring from farming at the age of 83. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Parker. George is survived by his wife, Betty Seitz of the home; many family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Parker, Kansas. Burial to follow in Cadmus Cemetery, Cadmus, Kansas.
