Gerald Hoddy

Gerald Eugene Hoddy, age 65, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at the University Of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. Gerald was born Nov. 16, 1950, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Roscoe Richard and Evelyn Florence (Thomas) Hoddy. He grew up in LaHarpe and Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1968. On Aug. 9, 1969, he married Beverly V. Trester in Iola. They have made their home in Iola, Chanute and most recently Humboldt. Gerald has worked in the oil fields at Sedan, Kansas where they lived for over 10 years. He had also worked for I.B.P. in Emporia and Walmart in Paola, Iola, and the Ottawa Distribution Center. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; 3 children, James Hoddy of Topeka, KS, Vinetta Hoddy Young and Julie Hoddy both of Humboldt, KS; 2 grandsons, Michael and Thomas Young; 2 sisters, Velma Zink and Pauline Hawk both of Spring Hill, KS, and 2 brothers, Roscoe Hoddy, Jr. of Liberal, KS and David Hoddy. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Freda Kincaid, Pamella Pulley, Victor, Clinton and Everett Hoddy. Memorial services will be 2:00p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Faith Assembly Of God in Humboldt. Feuerborn Family Funeral Service of Iola, is in charge of arrangements.
