Gerald "Jerry" L Connet

Gerald L. "Jerry" Connet, age 79 of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Olathe Medical Center. He was born July 17, 1936 at Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Harold John Connet and Margaret Mertina (Murphy) Connet. He graduated from Abilene High School. Jerry served in the United States Navy and became an Air Traffic Controller in Newfoundland. He also served in the Korean War. Jerry worked as an Air Traffic Controller in Houston, Texas for 14 years, and then transferred to the Olathe Air Route Traffic Control Center where he retired at the age of 46. He married Patricia Laurine Noel on August 23, 1963 at Miami, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with three children. Jerry was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed a cold beverage with friends. He was known for camping, water skiing, taking pictures, and his love for the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Connet; and one brother, Murel Connet. Jerry is survived by his children, Jerry Connet and wife Irene of St. Cloud, Florida; Noel Connet and wife Jae of Richard, Missouri; Monica Feuerborn and husband Scott of Olathe, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Derek, Ryan, Melissa, Kevin, Emily, Sarah, Quentin, Austin, Corryn, Lilly, and Adalay; two great grandchildren, Troy and Taylor; two sisters, Judy Fells and husband Pete of Herington, Kansas; Genny Dawson and husband Kenny of Abilene, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial in the St. Boniface Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Boniface New Parish Hall Fund.
