Glen Blaine Bodenhamer was born on August 22, 1931 in Greeley, Kansas to Hylas and Leona (Reed) Bodenhamer. After graduating from Greeley High School with the class of 1949, Glen joined the U.S. Navy and traveled the world. During his time in the Navy he served in the Korea war. Upon returning from the Navy, he married Shirley LaJune Shaw on September 3, 1955. Glen studied accounting by mail through La Salle University and earned a degree in accounting. He worked primarily for Behm/Gulf Western and later for Danials International at Wolf Creek where he retired as Accounting Manager. Glen was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lane, Kansas for 65 years and was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Glen's hobbies included hunting, fishing, and raising a big garden. He also loved trap shooting and made many great friends at the local trap clubs over the years. When he wasn't hunting, fishing, or gardening he read novels and solved crossword puzzles. Glen also loved to travel and he and LaJune traveled all over the U.S. and many foreign countries after he retired.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife LaJune, parents Hylas and Leona and brothers Jay, Rex and Charles.
Glen is survived by his son, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; Randy Bodenhamer and wife, Nancy of Burlington, Kansas; granddaughter, Kelly Scholz and husband, Arne and her children, Rinny and Ivy; grandson, Shawn Harrel and wife, Melinda of King George, Virginia, and his daughters, Grace and Hailey; two sisters, Judy McKendrick and husband Jay D, of Burley, Idaho and Nancy Day and husband, Gary of Ozark Missouri. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Garnett Cemetery in Garnett, Kansas. Glen's family will greet friends on Wednesday evening, August 16 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett.
