Glenda Coons, age 55, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at her home in Garnett. Glenda was born on July 1, 1955, at Alliance, Nebraska, the daughter of Bob and Merna (Brooks) Nichols. She grew up in the Bridgeport, Nebraska area, graduating from high school there in 1975. She earned her Associates Degree from Trinity Bible College in Allendale, North Dakota. She later attended Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She lived in Alliance until 1995 and moved to Garnett in 1997. She was united in marriage to Rusty Coons at Alliance, Nebraska on May 7, 1988. Glenda was a homemaker and she was very active member of the Assembly of God Church, Garnett. Glenda learned sign language while attending Trinity. She loved to be able to sign the songs for area churches. She enjoyed being a part of Singspiration and walking her dog, "Foxy", with her husband, Rusty. She was preceded in death by her parents. Glenda is survived by her husband, Rusty Coons, of the home; one stepson, LeRoy Coons and wife SuHong of Everett, Washington; one stepdaughter, Coralie Leaupple of Montana; one brother, Dale Nichols and wife Tammi of Bridgeport, Nebraska; three sisters, June Abbott of Las Vegas, Nevada; Janet Billingsley of Phoenix, Arizona; Karen Turner and husband Gerald of Phoenix, Arizona; four step granddaughters; five nephews and three nieces. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Glenda Coons Memorial Fund.
