Glenda Irene Jones, 61, of rural Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at her home. Glenda was born July 5, 1948, in Iola, the daughter of Glen and Marguerite (Creason) Carter. After graduating from Iola High School she attended cosmetology school in Iola. She worked as a beautician until going back to school. She received her training in Chanute to become a licensed practical nurse. She worked several years for Sterling Heights Manor and was director of nurses. Then after working for I.M.P. Boats she returned to her nursing career at Tara Gardens where she worked until her health failed. On June 4, 1971 she was married to George Jones. SURVIVORS: Husband: George Jones 2 Sons: Chris Jones & wife, Marlana of Humboldt, KS and Josh Jones & wife, Jennifer of Iola, KS 1 Daughter: Miki Karns & husband, Brett of Gas, KS 2 Sisters: Pam Roush of Iola, KS and Roberta Gregory of LaHarpe, KS 6 Grandchildren: Maciah, McKinley, McKadin, Nicholas, Madison and Shaylee. A number of nieces and nephews VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd Houk will officiate.
