Glenn Westley Showalter, age 72, of Georgetown, Texas, formerly of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008, at Georgetown, Texas, surrounded by his immediate family. He was born December 19, 1935 in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Paul and Daisy (Ashburn) Showalter. He grew up in the Colony area and graduated from Colony High School, he then attended Coffeyville Community College for two years. Glenn began his career with Sears, Roebuck and Company in furniture sales at the Coffeyville, Kansas store. He then began working in store management, which would take him and his family to Joplin, Missouri, Albuquerque, New Mexico, El Paso, Texas, Shreveport, Louisiana, Amarillo, Texas, and Austin, Texas, where he would retire in 1991 after 38 years of employment. He spent his retirement traveling and spending time with his family, to which he was extremely devoted to. He was an avid sports fan, especially to all University of Texas activities. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Darlene Kaal, daughter Angela Nichols and grandson Austin Nichols. He leaves to morn, his loving wife, Delores; daughters, Janice McClelland and husband Phil of Caballo, New Mexico and Elizabeth Smith and husband John of El Paso, Texas; son, Mike Showalter and wife Anna of Round Rock, Texas; son-in-law, Steve Nichols of Austin, Texas; nine precious grandchildren, Nikki, Derek, Kelli, Andrew, Philip Jr., Jennifer, Brittany, Stephany and Tyler; and his three great-grandchildren, Rylie, Kylie and Logan. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed.
