Grace Sloan

Grace I. Sloan, 89, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Windsor Place in Iola. Grace was born January 25, 1924, in Neosho County, Kansas, the daughter of Roy Theador Carroll and Grace Mae (Morris) Carroll McClain. She grew up at Erie and graduated from Erie High School. On February 16, 1941, Grace married E.E. "Gene" Sloan in Iola. They made their home on a farm just southeast of Iola until moving to a farm northeast of LaHarpe. They eventually settled on a farm southwest of Iola where they lived until moving to Humboldt in 2007. Gene preceded her in death November 7, 2011. Grace was a member of Salem United Methodist Church southwest of Iola. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Jay Sloan & wife, Linda of Tallahassee, FL 2 Daughters: Evelyn Williams & husband, Howard of Wichita, KS and Mary Jo Brewington of Kansas City, MO 10 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. BURIAL: Mt.
