Harley C. Hutton, age 78, of Gas, Kansas passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, Kansas. Harley was born on February 6, 1939 at Iola. He was the only child born to Mearl and Violet (Trester) Hutton. He grew up in the Gas area, attending school there. He was a lifelong resident of the Gas and Iola communities. On August 26, 1959, he eloped with Bonnie Wilson and they were married at Colony, Kansas. This union was blessed with four sons. Harley was an equipment operator for the City of Iola water department. He retired in 1993 after 32 years of service to the City of Iola. He enjoyed dirt track racing, building race cars, and going to the races, sometimes, up to four nights a week. Harley also enjoyed working on cars and tinkering on things in his garage. Later in life he enjoyed going on road trips. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of nearly 50 years on July 1, 2009; and one daughter-in-law, Pamela Hutton on February 26, 2011. Harley is survived by his sons, Irvin and wife, Brenda of Neosho Falls, Kansas, Gregg and wife, Roxanne of Iola, Tony of Gas, and Chris and wife, Tracy of Salina, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Iola. Burial will follow in the Gas City Cemetery.
