Harold D. Lindsey, 81, of Humboldt, Kansas died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at his home in Humboldt after a long struggle with Parkinsons Disease. He was born March 23, 1933, in Humboldt, Kansas, the son of Robert Maxwell and Ethel Eva ( King ) Lindsey. He grew up east of Humboldt and in 1951 enlisted in the U. S. Army for three years. Harold served in Korea and Japan before returning to Humboldt in 1954 to complete his high school education. On September 2, 1955, he married Wilma Jean Elliott and they made their home in Humboldt. Harold worked for Sinclair Research on a project near Humboldt until 1959 when he was transferred to Tulsa where he continued working for Sinclair Reseach and Oil. In 1970, after completing a bachelors and masters degree in business administration, he joined Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center as administrator until his retirement in 1997. In 2000 they returned to Humboldt to live. He enjoyed bowling, golf, traveling and camping, flying airplanes, and attending Tulsa basketball and football games. Harold was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church, Past President of the Humboldt High School Alumni Association, and served on the board of the Humboldt Historical Society Museum. He also was a member of the Medical Group Management Association, BONES Organization for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Administrators, Beta Gamma Sigma Society in Tulsa, American Legion, VFW, and the AAA Gun Battalion Association. Survivors: Wife Jean One Brother; Charles Lindsey and wife Mary Faye of Cheyenne, Wyoming One Sister; Roberta Campbell and husband Bill of Yates Center Sisters-in-law; Edna Mae Culp and Bill of Petrolia, Joan Snodgrass and Bruce of Lawrence, Hazel Robb and John of Humboldt, and Judy Middendorf and Jerry of Humboldt He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Wayne Lindsey, two sisters, Mary Edith Littlepage and Frances Tweedy. VISITATION 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday August 22nd at the Humboldt United Methodist Church. FUNERAL SERVICES 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 23rd at the Humboldt United Methodist Church with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Humboldt Historical Society Museum or to the Humboldt United Methodist Church and can be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel who is in charge of arrangements.
