Hazel Harrison, 88, of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Hazel was born July 21, 1923, at Colony, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Lucy (Drake) Culbertson. She lived between Colony and Carlyle until moving with her family to Iola at the age of five. On July 1, 1940, Hazel married George Harrison and they made their home in Iola where she was a homemaker and raised her children. Mr. Harrison preceded her in death on September 30, 1997. SURVIVORS: 4 Sons: Lester Harrison of Chanute, KS, Floyd Harrison of Chanute, KS, Bill Harrison of Iola, KS, and Jessie Harrison of Iola, KS 4 Daughters: Georjean Friend of LaHarpe, KS, Beth Griffeth of Iola, KS, Loretta Benenati of Long Beach, Washington, and Georgie Harrison of the home 18 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Floyd, Lester, Bill and Lloyd Culbertson, and 6 sisters, Gladys Erickson, Charlotte Stroud, Ethel Johnson, Zona Ross, Iola Gregg and Viola Shay. VISITATION: 7:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
