Heidi Betts, age 39, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. She was born on January 28, 1972, in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of William Everett Betts and Mary Lou (Barber) Durr. She lived in Milwaukie, Oregon for ten years, attending grade school and high school there. Her family moved to Topeka in 1984, and Heidi moved to Garnett in 1992, making this her home. She raised her three sons, Josh, Brady, and Joey. Heidi attended the Garnett Church of the Nazarene in Garnett. She always put her family and friends first before her own needs. Heidi loved her television shows and reading. She enjoyed spending her time with the boys. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cleo and Jean Betts and Lida Barber; her mother-in-law, Barbara Henderson. Heidi is survived by three sons, Josh Betts, Brady Henderson, and Joey Henderson, all of Garnett, Kansas; her father, William Betts of Garnett; her mother, Mary Durr and husband Brent of Eudora, Kansas; her grandmother, Donna Henneke of California; two brothers, Bill Betts and wife Angel of Garnett, Kansas; Mike Betts and wife Jennifer Winchell of Topeka, Kansas; two adopted sisters, Leah Murphy of Portland, Oregon; Amber Spellmeier and husband Mike of Garnett; an adopted brother, James Betts of Garnett; an Aunt, Barbara Voeltz and husband Richard of Lincoln, Nebraska; a cousin Michelle in Michigan; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Garnett Church of the Nazarene, Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses.
