Helen Marie Dingus Stewart, 96, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Windsor Place in Iola. Helen was born February 26, 1919, in Mound City, Kansas and moved to Blue Mound, Kansas while in grade school. She finished her remaining years of grade school in Blue Mound. Helen married Vernon Dean Stewart in 1935. They moved to the farm and started farming in 1941. They lived three miles east of Bayard, Kansas until retirement in 1988. At that time they moved to Bronson, Kansas, then moved to Iola, Kansas in 1998. Helen is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Price and husband, Melvin of Iola; one son, Ivy Eugene Stewart and wife, Cheryl of Cypress, Texas; six grandchildren, Ralene Davis & husband, Mark of Sedan, KS, David Eugene Price & wife, Holly of Miami, OK, Kim Skinner & husband, Mark of Wellsville, KS, Bonnie Powell & husband, Robert, Jr. of Iola, Diana Adler of Brookfield, MO, and Brenda Mandi & husband, Noel of Houston, TX; seventeen great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Dean Stewart in 2000, her sister Nellie May Dingus in 1911, her father William Schnee Dingus in 1921 (when Helen was two years old), her mother Bertha Hattie Eck Dingus in 1945, her brother James Allen Dingus, sister-in-law Cosma Cooper Dingus, niece Barbara A. Dingus Janes, and her great great granddaughter Ryenne Hicks. VISITATION: 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Moran Baptist Church in Moran, Kansas BURIAL: Bronson Cemetery, Bronson, KS MEMORIAL: Moran Baptist Church Building Fund Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
