Henry Gatlin

Henry Leroy Gatlin, age 69 of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at his home.

Henry was born on December 26, 1954, in Pueblo, Colorado, the son of James K.R. Gatlin and Paulina J. (Vanmeter) Gatlin, the sixth of ten children. He attended school and completed a cement mason apprenticeship program in Kansas City, Missouri.

Henry was united in marriage to Carol Young on November 24, 1972, in Kansas City, Missouri. During their 51 years of marriage, they raised five boys and worked together to create a life to be proud of. Henry was known for pouring many yards of concrete, raising various animals, rehabbing houses, a true jack of all trades. Henry never met a stranger and talked to everyone. He truly had a gift of gab. Henry enjoyed fishing and taking care of their farm in Garnett where they moved in 2002.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, James Gatlin, Linda Long, Alice Redman, Edna Archuleta, John Gatlin and Frank Gatlin.

He is survived by his loving wife of the home; sons, Henry Gatlin Jr. and wife Brandy of Braymer, Missouri, Kenneth Gatlin and wife Kelley of Raymore, Missouri, Kevin Gatlin of Garnett, Kansas, Lee Gatlin and wife Sarah of Blaine, Minnesota, Eddie Gatlin and wife Ashley of Raymore, Missouri; grandchildren, Henry Dakota, Madison, Jacob, Bryce, Connor, Evan, Tyler, Megan, Kevin JR., Gina, Leo, Adeline; great- grandchildren, Oliver and Elijah; siblings, Donna Wright (Dennis) of Long Beach, California, Larry Gatlin of Long Beach, California, Paula Logan (Bill) of Buckner, Missouri; numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday August 14, 2024, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Chapel, Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas. Henry's family will greet friends the evening before on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
