Henry Charles Kipp

Henry Charles (Hank) Kipp, age 91, of Piqua, Kansas, passed away January 23, 2022, at his residence. Hank was born April 28, 1930, in Piqua, Kansas, to Henry John Kipp and Johanna (Wille) Kipp.

Hank wrote his own obituary as follows:

I was born in Piqua, Kansas. The youngest of eight children. I attended the Catholic grade school in Piqua, Kansas, for eight years. I was an "A" student.

I lived on a farm in Piqua with my folks. I loved farming and all the animals. My dad needed help farming because there was always so much work to do. So, I didn't go to high school and stayed at home and helped dad get the work done.

I loved to hunt, fish, and trap rabbits on our farm; also the neighbors' farm land. No one cared in those days if you hunted and etc. on their land.

June the 25th the Korean War started. I couldn't get deferred to help farm. In WWII farmers got deferred. In March 1953 the draft board ordered me to report to Fort Riley, Kansas, for eight weeks of basic training, infantry warfare. Then I was sent to Fort Carson, Colorado, for eight more weeks of artillery training. We were off duty on Saturday at noon. Several of us bar hopped in Colorado Springs, which was only a few miles away. Instead of this one Saturday afternoon I took a general education development test (GED). I made a high score and later got into college without attending high school.

I was ordered to Fort Lewis, Washington, on December 15, 1953. I had a month furlow at home before this. I sailed on January 4, 1954, to (FECOM) Far East Command Pacific Islands Japan. I landed in Korea the last of January 1954, a three-week trip and 5,000 miles by slow boat. Boots On The Ground, I hauled supplies most of the time until I was sent home in January 1953. But, was better coming home, landed in Piqua (HOME) on February 15, 1955.

After spending some time at home I went to live with my sister Rosie in Kansas City, Kansas. I was 25 years old and she was 45. I was still single. She had a degree in nursing and taught nursing students at Providence Hospital nearby. We lived in an apartment. One day I was doing laundry in the basement and a young beautiful CHICK came down with her laundry and GUESS WHAT she said her name is JANE LIERZ and we dated some and I went to college four years on the GI Bill and got my degree in accounting from Rockhurst University in May 1959.

We became engaged in March 1960. I went back to farm near Piqua and we were married on September 1, 1960, and lived on our farm in Piqua, Kansas. Our son, Dave Kipp, was born December 28, 1961. We farmed and also started an accounting and income tax agency in Iola, Kansas, on January 1, 1965, later added insurance and real estate. Our second son, Dean Kipp, was born December 9, 1967.

Hank was born again. He had a profound love of the HOLY SPIRIT. When I go into the Faith Assembly Church, I get a sensational feeling that is so peaceful and awesomely that I get a heavenly spiritual comfort that I wish it would last forever. It's all I need to rest and relax HEAVENLY.

Dave and Dean were both BORN AGAIN and lived good Christian lives.

Hank was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; his parents; and sons, David Kipp and Dean Kipp.

Hank is survived by his daughter-in-law, Debbie Kipp; grandson, Jason (Jana) Kipp; granddaughter, Nikki Kipp and fiancé, Matt; and grandsons, Owen and Noah; all of St. Louis, Missouri.

Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery, Piqua, Kansas.
