William "Henry" Langford, age 57, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at his home. He was born November 9, 1955, in San Diego, California, the son of Maxwell Sonny and Gloria (Smith) Langford. He entered the United States Army in February 1972 through February 1974, serving his country in Germany. Henry worked as a heavy equipment operator for Apax for many years in Georgia. He retired and moved to Kansas. He then met Edna Roach in Colony, Kansas; they married on July 1, 2010. They later made their home in Garnett, Kansas. Henry was a member of the Colony Christian Church. He enjoyed taking care of his pets, listening to a variety of music, loved to watch Shepherd's Chapel and any military channels. Most of all, Henry loved to go shopping and spending time with Edna. Henry was preceded in death by his father, Maxwell Langford; one brother, Dee Langford. He is survived by Edna Langford, of the home; his mother, Gloria Ann Fields of Augusta, Georgia; one son, Brad Langford of Conyers, Georgia; one daughter, Danielle Langford of Loganville, Georgia; five stepchildren, Randall Smith and wife Shirley of Raytown, Missouri; Franklin Smith and wife Brenda of Iola, Kansas; Jay Stogsdill and wife Sara of Iola, Kansas; Christopher Stogsdill and wife Rhonda of Iola, Kansas; Pamela Stogsdill of Iola, Kansas; one brother, Larry Fields of South Carolina; three sisters, Tammy Stever of Colony, Kansas; Kitty Chavis of Aiken, South Carolina; Nancy Fields of Augusta, Georgia; two granddaughters, Kayla and Haley Langford; and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening at the Colony funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions made to the Henry Langford Memorial Fund.
