Herschel L. Kincheloe, 86, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Allen County Hospital. Herschel was born May 25, 1926 at Centerville, Kansas, the son of Clair and Bernice (Malson) Kincheloe. His mother died when he was two and his father married Opal Peterson. The family made their home in Iola where he grew up and graduated from Iola High School Class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In 1947, Herschel married Mary Dolores Heeney and they made their home in Iola and LaHarpe. She preceded him in death in 1971. He married Earlene Osborn in 1973 and they later divorced. In 1980, he and Rexy Snavely were married and later divorced. Herschel owned and operated Kincheloe's Greenhouse in LaHarpe and was a bee keeper. He later operated a greenhouse in Iola. He also worked for LeHigh Portland Cement Company until it closed. He then worked for Allen County. While living in LaHarpe he served as mayor, volunteer fireman and councilman. He was active in 4-H and FFA growing up. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Iola. SURVIVORS: 4 Daughters: Mary Jo Dickerson & husband, John of Iola, Sharon Sigg, Iola, Debra Saichompoo & husband, Bruce of Independence, KS, and Donna Jean Dillon of Emporia, KS 5 Siblings: Barbara Rogers of Dodge City, Marilyn Manbeck of Iola, Jill Creason of Paola, Jane Saferite of Wichita and Bruce Kincheloe of Duluth, GA 9 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren with one on the way Numerous Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, daughter Diana, infant sons David & Darrell, son Duane, brother Ronald, two infant siblings, and his seeing eye dog, Hud. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
