Howard Lyle Brown, age 71, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at his home.
He was born September 25, 1947, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Howard and Grace (Phillips) Brown. Lyle graduated from District 10 with the Class of 1965. He joined the United States Army in November 1966, serving until October 1968 during the Vietnam War and served as Sergeant. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and was a sharp shooter.
Lyle married Virginia Robertson and they later divorced. He then married Sondra Chambers on September 16, 1995. Sondra preceded him in death on October 30, 2014.
Lyle owned and operated Highway 59 Service Station for around 30 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and helping his community. He also enjoyed the Royals, Chiefs, KU, and Central Heights Vikings. Lyle was a member of the Richmond City Council, Richmond Ruritans, Central Heights Board Member, Jaycees, Eagles, VFW and the Richmond Fire Department, Youth Baseball Coach and a KSHSAA Basketball Official.
He is survived by his sons, Jason Brown (Kelli) of Richmond, Kansas, grandchildren Chase, Merrick, and Autumn; Blaine Brown (Jenny) of Bristol, Tennessee, grandchildren Bella, Bristol (deceased) Quinton, and Gloria; one daughter, Dana Drimmel (deceased), grandchildren, Victoria and Jaiden (deceased); Allan Roecker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Samantha and Danny; Renee Giager of Roland, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Jennifer, John (deceased), Rhonda Hunter of Independence, Kansas, grandchildren,Leslie Harris and Jeffery Kutz; James Roecker of Muldrow, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Chris, Clayton, Catherine; Bruce Chambers (Jennifer) of Burlington, Kansas, grandchildren, Cody, Jordan, and Austin; 16 great grandchildren, Delylah (deceased); siblings, Charles Brown (Bernice) of Garnett, Kansas; Wilma Ball (Ronald) of Princeton, Kansas; Carol Stubler of Olathe, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett with burial following in Richmond Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
