Howard Lee Hanson, Sr., 70, of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Howard was born June 25, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas. In 1944 he was adopted by Henry and Anna (Riggs) Hanson and grew up in Iola. In 1962 he married Marcelene "Micky" Berglund and they made their home in Iola. They later divorced. He worked for Lesh Oil Company, drove a truck for Midwestern Trucking and Quality Packaging Co. and then worked for 33 years for Columbia Metal before retiring. In 1979 he married Velma McDonald Scheer and they later divorced. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Iola. SURVIVORS: 3 Sons: Phillip Hanson of Ft. Scott, KS, Mark Hanson of Princeton, KS, and Howard Hanson, Jr. of Iola, KS 4 Daughters: Teresa Hanson and Michelle Cannon both of Iola, KS, Kelly Morrison of Emporia, KS, and Angela Harrison of Ottawa, KS 1 Brother: Earl T. Hanson of Garnett, KS 30 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Iola.
