Howard Arthur Purcell, age 80, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at KU Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born January 6, 1940, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Ralph Emerson and Arleen Edna (Wade) Purcell, the oldest of identical twins.
Howard was the original manager at the Garnett Rec Center, helping countless people to come up with fitness plans to get them physically fit. He was on the Council on Aging, and delivered Meals On Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Arleen Purcell; one son, Matthew Howard Purcell; and one stepson, Eric James Underhill.
Howard is survived by his wife Marigene Purcell, of the home; one daughter, Stasha Blackwell of Phoenix, Arizona; one stepdaughter, Erin Underhill of Garnett, Kansas; five grandsons; one granddaughter; one twin brother, Wade Ralph Purcell and wife Rondi of Hilliard, Ohio; two nieces, and Stasha’s mother, Sharron Summerson of Phoenix, Arizona and many friends.
The Family will gather to greet friends on January 25th, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Garnett Recreation Center, at 510 N. Lake Rd, Garnett, Kansas 66032.
