Howard James Tidd, 81, of rural Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Howard was born April 24, 1929, at Neosho Falls, Kansas, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Diebolt) Tidd. He grew up in the Neosho Falls area and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On July 6, 1955, Howard married Lillie E. Blakney at Uvalde, Texas. They have always made their home west of Iola on the farm. Howard enjoyed farming, gardening and caring for his animals. His memberships include the Calvary United Methodist Church and the LaHarpe V.F.W. SURVIVORS: His wife of 55 years: Lillie Tidd of the home 4 Grandsons: Donald Lee Tidd, Jr. & his wife, Nancy of the home, Roy Tidd & his wife, Sarah of the home, Andrew Snavely and Mark Snavely both of rural Iola, Kansas 1 Son: Donald Lee Tidd, Sr. & his wife, Theresa of rural Iola, Kansas 1 Son-In-Law: Charles Snavely of rural Iola, Kansas 3 Brothers: Richard Tidd and Frank Tidd, both of rural Neosho Falls, Kansas, and Lawrence Tidd of Wichita, Kansas 2 Sisters: Meribeth Weise of LasVegas, Nevada and Bertha Hackett of Hoyt, Kansas He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley A. Snavely, daughter-in-law, Tammy Tidd, grandson, Jacob Tidd and sister, Arlene Chriestenson. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola. Rev. Gene McIntosh will officiate.
