Hoyle R. Runnells, age 94, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett.
Hoyle Raymond Runnells was born on March 16, 1928, in Burlington, Kansas, the son of Leo and Ola (Gardner) Runnells. He grew up in the Neosho Falls and Leroy communities. On December 11, 1948 Hoyle was united in marriage to Mary E. Bronson. This union was blessed with five sons. Hoyle and Mary lived in Ottawa, Kansas for many years, where he worked as the print press operator for the Ottawa Herald. In 1997 they moved to Colony where they enjoyed their retirement years. He enjoyed fishing in area ponds and rivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Eleanor (Bronson) Runnells in 1997; four sons, Murry and David in 2007, Raymond in 2010, and Rick in 2020; two brothers, Murray and John; and two sisters, Tina and Ione.
He is survived by his son, Randy Runnells of Colony; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. His family will greet friends following the funeral service in the chapel. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kansas.
