Virginia Imogene Brubaker, age 93, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. She was born on July 8, 1918, near Sawyer, Kansas, the daughter of Elijah Harry and Inez (Flory) Wray. Imogene married Elmer James Brubaker on December 23, 1935 in Fairview, Oklahoma. She is survived by three sons, Loren Wray Brubaker and wife Norma of Baldwin City, Kansas; Verl John Brubaker and wife Margaret of Tuolumne, California; and Marlin Elmer Brubaker and wife Peggy of Harris, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Allen Brubaker, Elaine Flora, Clinton Brubaker, Eric Brubaker, Emily Root, Troy Brubaker, and Traci Flora and their companions; fifteen great grandchildren; brother James Wray; two sisters, Darlene Killingsworth and husband Verlin of Sawyer, Kansas; Marlene Kennedy and husband Glenn of Knob Noster, Missouri Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Brubaker on October 5, 2003; one brother, LaDrue Wray; and one sister, Eva Metzger. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care or Hospice Care of Kansas and sent in care of the funeral home.
