Ira "Steve" Stephens, III, age 66, of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at his home. He was born on December 11, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Ira Stephens, Jr. and Faye M. (Stout) Stephens. Steve grew up in Great Bend and attended school there. He began working with his father in the welding and machine shop at a young age. Steve served in the U.S. Army. He returned to Great Bend where he worked with his father. Steve married Cynthia Meyers in 1968, one son, Chris, was born to this union. They later divorced. Steve was united in marriage to Marlene (Will) LeBlanc on September 3, 1976, in Tribune, Kansas. Marlene had two children, Michael and Kimberly. They made their home in Tribune before moving to Vernal, Utah. Later moving to Kincaid, Kansas, Steve worked with his father on their farm and ranch. Steve enjoyed coon hunting and fishing. He was a fan of all sports, particularly KU basketball. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Jr. and Faye Stephens. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Stephens, of the home; children Chris Alan Stephens of Overland Park, Kansas, Michael LeBlanc and wife Christina of McPherson, Kansas, Kimberly Hagman and husband Kelly of Hutchinson, Kansas; grandchildren Alexa and Reagan Stephens, Stephanie, Haley, Zachary and Aimee LeBlanc; Levi and Gabriel Winger; and sister Cassandra Steele of Pratt, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015, at the Kincaid Selma United Methodist Church in Kincaid, Kansas. The family will greet friends following the service.
