Ivan L. Goins, age 87, of Colony, Kansas passed away on February 27, 2023 at his home.
Ivan was born in Welda, Kansas on February 15, 1936. He was the eleventh of thirteen children of George and Sadie (Barber) Goins. Ivan grew up in Anderson County, his father farmed and they lived in the Welda and Mont Ida areas when he was a young boy. He met, Yvonne Cleaver the summer of 1956 at the Iola Fair and the couple married on June 15, 1957 in the First Christian Church, Garnett, Kansas. They had three children, Jeannie, Dale and Lorena, in 1967 the family moved to Colony. Ivan was a heavy equipment operator and farmer. He was a hard worker and was employed at Whitaker Aggregates up to the time of his passing. He loved working on the farm and was especially fond of raising cattle and growing tomatoes.
Ivan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and telling stories. He adored his geriatric Maltese, Meeka. He lived a life and his lore will live on as his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren pass on the tales of his antics for decades to come.
He is preceded in death by wife, Yvonne Goins on January 23, 2023; son, Ivan Dale "Bubba" Goins on September 23, 2022; parents, George and Sadie; and 11 siblings.
Ivan is survived by his two daughters, Jeannie Jackson and Dan and Lorena Goins; four grandchildren, Paul Goins, Zeb Jackson and Mandi, Lacy Goins, Danielle Bernal and Mark; five great-grandchildren, Nayeli Jackson, Brady Jackson, Larkin Bernal, Everly Jackson, and Boone Bernal; and one brother, Melvin Goins and Judy; and many nieces and nephews.
The family is planning memorial services for a later date.
