Jack Randall Corbin, age 62, of Iola, Kansas passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at Allen County Regional Hospital of Iola, KS.
Jack was born July 25, 1957 to Bill and Wanda (Ward) Corbin in Norman, Oklahoma. In 1968 the family moved to Austin, Texas. Jack attended school in Austin and graduated from Crockett High School in 1975. After high school, he started a career as a boat designer. He worked as a boat designer for 10 years, then later changed careers to a cabinet designer for 27 years from which he retired.
In 2014 Jack was presented with a “window of opportunity” to begin pursuing his lifelong dream of living off of the land in Alaska, which Jack referred to as, “God’s Country”. He designed and built a tiny home from the ground up that he referred to as “The Coupe”. During his time in Alaska, he received a message from Jana, whom he had met in 1983 while working for Skeeter Boats. While working together, their relationship flourished. They fell into what Jack referred to as the “purest of loves”. Though circumstances had pulled them apart for 32 years, they could never escape what they had shared. So after almost three years of living in Alaska, Jack packed up and left his lifelong dream to come back to his lifelong love in Kansas City.
Jack was passionate about reading and writing. Over the years he completed a fictional novel, as well as published a series of historical fiction stories. He had an unforgettable voice and loved to sing and play guitar. In high school he had a band and participated in multiple choirs. He then continued his passion of music throughout his life with a collection of guitars and a willingness to sing upon request. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and proud of his country’s constitutional rights. He often spoke of his immense love for Dana’s chicken fried steak and was openly amused by Chase’s ability to burn through a box of ammo. Jack was known for his generous, giving heart and his effortless smile. Also his soft heart for animals that he passed onto his children. He could light up any room and would do anything for anyone. Quick witted and always looking to make people laugh, Jack will be remembered for being the selfless man he always was.
Jack is preceded in death by his sister, Gayla Gault.
Jack is survived by the wife of the home, Jana Corbin; parents, Bill and Wanda Corbin; daughter, Dana Rene Simmons; step-daughter, Jayme Morris; step-sons, Chase Trevino, John Carper, and Jake Carper; grandsons, Caleb Bryce Corbin and Jacob Dane Simmons; nephews, Corbin Gault and Dillon Gault; and numerous other family members and friends.
