James “Jim” William Hill, age 74, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on January 9, 2020, at the Anderson County Hospital, Garnett.
He was born May 19, 1945, in Rockford, Iowa, the son of Myron C. and Yvonne (Clark) Hill. Jim graduated from Parker High School with the Class of 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1969, serving in Guam on the U.S.S. Hammerhead Destroyer.
Jim married Jacquelyn (Sutton) Tush on February 20, 1981 in Welda, Kansas.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Iola, Kansas; a 50+ member of the Garnett Masonic Delphian Lodge 44, a 50+ member of American Legion Post #48, Iola, Kansas.
Jim was a cook and kitchen manager in various restaurant in local areas and in the Kansas City area. Later, he was an over the road truck driver until his retirement in 2005, when his health declined. He enjoyed bowling and dancing, not missing very many occasions to dance. Jim never met a stranger, always willing to help out someone in need.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Yvonne Hill; three stepsons, Chris Ernzen, David Tush and Terry Tush; one great granddaughter, Aris Hill; and one step great grandson, Ronald Tush Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn Hill of the home; one son, Myron Hill of Merriam, Kansas; two stepsons, Ronald Tush of Iola, Kansas and Michael Tush of Savonburg, Kansas; two grandsons, Garron Hill and Morgan, Keegan Hill; one stepdaughter, April Hackathorn; five step granddaughters, Casey Tush, Kathy Tush, Paige Hall, Penelope Tush, and Georgia Tush; one great granddaughter, Nova Hill; one step great granddaughter, Aryana Doolittle; and one step great grandson, Ean Tush.
Cremation is planned and no services will be taking place at this time.
