James Clyde "Jim" Kerschner

James Clyde Kerschner, 80 of Muskogee, Oklahoma, formerly of Toronto, Kansas, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2016. He was born October 15, 1935, in Eldorado Springs, MO, to James E. and Jennie Marie (Bushell) Kerschner. He grew up and attended the public schools in Parsons, Kansas. Jim, as his family and friends knew him by, served in the United States Army after World War II. He was stationed in Germany, where he met the love of his life, Elfriede Elisabeth Sailer. They were married on June 16, 1955, in Germany, and have celebrated over 60 years of life and happy marriage together. His professional career was with United Van Lines as a Truck Driver, with over 35 years of service. After leaving United, Jim worked with the Kansas Department of Transportation, retiring in 2000. Jim's hobbies included tinkering in his shop, going on cruises, dancing and going fishing. His family remembers how he loved fishing and would go anytime he could. He is preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Marie Kerschner; his son, Richard Kerschner; his brothers, Vernon Kerschner and Virgil Kerschner; his sister, Juanita Caywood; his great grandchildren, Steven Haninger and Rebecca Haninger. Jim is survived by his wife, Elfriede of the home; son, James R. Kerschner of Norfolk, VA; daughter, Conelia K. Hill and her husband Jack of Chanute, KS; his sisters, Donna Traxson and her husband Marvin and Carolyn Morgan all of Bartlesville, OK; his sister-in-law, Linda Groomes of Toronto, KS; his grandchildren, Alisha Rutherford, Sheryl Hill, Rosellen Goodall and Nicole Nee; great grandchildren, Dallas & Maria Rodriguez, Takota & Kayana Goodall, Ashton & Zoie Hesse, Breighlynn, Cayleigh, Easton, Brianna, Rylee & Jase Rutherford, Adrian Stillie, Baylee Hill, Cayden Ratliff and Dominque Nee; other family members and friends. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Inurnment will be in the Toronto Cemetery at a later date.
