James L. Kueser, age 95, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Golden Heights Living Center. Jim was born November 12, 1912 at Richmond, Kansas, the son of Conrad and Cecelia (Feuerborn) Kueser. He grew up in the Garnett area, where he attended the Spring Branch School. On October 12, 1937, he was united in marriage to Celestine Gretencord at St. Therese Catholic Church in Richmond. Jim was a farmer and stockman in the Richmond area until retiring in 1975. Following the death of Celestine he moved to Garnett in 1991. On November 2, 1991 he married Doris (Talbot) Sobba at St. Therese Catholic Church in Richmond. Jim was a member of St. Therese Church until moving to Garnett when he became a member of Holy Angels Church; the Knights of Columbus; he formerly served on the Richmond Co-Op Board; USD 365 consolidation committee; ACS County Committee; Anderson County Hospital Board; board of directors at the Peoples Bank, Richmond. He was preceded by his parents; wife, Celestine; two sons-in-law, Alvin Rubick and Steve Beckwith; two brothers, Gus and Gene Sobba; and a sister Fern Sobba. Jim is survived by his wife, Doris, of the home; daughter, Jeanette Lutz, and husband, John; son, Leland Kueser, and wife, Alberta; daughter, Connie Beckwith, and friend, Terry Feuerborn; son, Dale Kueser, and wife, Sandra; all of Richmond, Kansas and son Gail Kueser, and wife, Debbie of Garnett; two brothers, Orville Sobba, and Earl Sobba; two sisters, Louella Pontius, and Berniece Barnaby; three stepchildren, Marlys Coughlin, Amy Jones, and Richard Sobba; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00, Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Holy Angels Church, Garnett. Interment will follow in the Holy Angels Cemetery. The family will greet friends following a Rosary service at 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Therese or Holy Angels Church Building Funds.
