James “Jim” McAllister, age 76, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Parkview Heights Living Center, Garnett.
He was born February 5, 1943, in Ironton, Missouri, the son of C.R. and Louise (Jackson) McAllister. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School, at Mount Vernon, Missouri.
Jim worked as a route salesman for Wonder Bread Company for over 40 years, delivering bread to stores in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Jim married Madalene Bronson on August 30, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with three children.
He enjoyed going to the casino, reading books, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. He especially had a love for dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.R. and Louise McAllister; step-mother, Jean McAllister, and one step-brother, Dwight Eubanks.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Madalene McAllister of the home; one daughter, Paula Sjorlund and husband Jason of Garnett, Kansas; two sons, Daniel Gordon and wife Fran of Bella Vista, Arkansas, John Yates and wife Tanya of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Kaci Sjorlund, Jese Sjorlund, and J.D. Yates; four great grandchildren; one brother, Steve McAllister and wife Rhoda of St. Joseph, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Richard Anderson and wife Ginger of Carthage, Missouri; two step-sisters, Pat Cook of Boerne,Texas, Charla Prior and husband Jim of Moore, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration Of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at First Christian Church, Garnett, Kansas, with inurnment following at 2:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Jasper, Missouri.
