James McGowan

James S. McGowan, Sr., 75, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. He was born May 20, 1934, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Raymond P. and Jane Helen (Atkins) McGowan. He grew up in Iola. After serving a year with the Kansas National Guard he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for twenty-one years. After retiring from the military, he worked for Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas and then for several years in the commissary at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. He returned to Iola to make his home in 2002. He was married to Patsy Weeks in 1992. James was a member of the Iola American Legion and the LaHarpe Veterans of Foreign Wars. Worth, TX 1 Daughter: Pamela Genzer of Springfield, MO 1 Sister: Ramona Farmer of Augusta, KS He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Alfred. Cremation has taken place.
