James F. Ratcliff, 50, of Bassett, Kansas, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at his home. James was born January 9, 1965, at Carthage, Missouri, the son of Daryl Norman and Mary Anna ( Martin ) Ratcliff. His mother died when he was eight and he and his father moved to Iola. On August 18, 1991, he married Sheryl L. Alexander on the bank of the Neosho River in Allen County. They lived in Iola before moving to Bassett to make their home. James worked at IMP Boats, Classic Yachts, and presently owned and operated Ratcliff Auto & Marine Repair. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and inventing things. He was serving on the Bassett city council. SURVIVORS: Wife: Sheryl of the home 2 sons: Joshua Ratcliff and wife Brandy of Wichita, Brian Lee Ratcliff and companion Aimee Jones of Colony 1 daughter: Amanda Ratcliff and companion Duane Silvey of Chanute 2 brothers: Gregg Ratcliff of Washington, Brian A. Ratcliff of Iola 1 sister: Debbie Lovell of Las Vegas, Nevada Mother-in-law: Connie S. Alexander of Bassett Bro Ham: Erick Alexander and wife Olivia of Bassett Brother-in-law: Michael Alexander and wife Angie of Lenexa Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends He was also preceded in death by his Father Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Memorials are suggested to the James Ratcliff Memorial Fund and can be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel who is in charge of arrangements.
