James LeRoy Seigel, age 84, passed away at his residence after a long illness on December 27, 2020. Jim, or Bud as he was known to his family, was born on April 10, 1936, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to George Seigel and Mabel (Walker) Seigel.
Jim began working at the age of fourteen delivering Grit newspapers. After that, he began delivering RC Cola around southeast Kansas. Next, he entered the grocery business which turned into his lifelong career of 46 years, retiring in 1998 from Country Mart in Iola, Kansas. Jim remained Iola after his retirement, and he called Iola his home.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing poker.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three wives, Sylvia Seigel, Coweta, Oklahoma, Lois Seigel, Iola, Kansas, Ennis Seigel, Iola, Kansas; older brother, Wayne Seigel; brother-in-law, Tommy Church; and one step-son, Russell Ervin.
Jim is survived by sons, Steve Seigel, Osage, Oklahoma, Mike Seigel and wife, Mary Ann, Mounds, Oklahoma; two daughters, Pamela Cox, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Karen Seigel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one brother, Kenneth Seigel and wife, Ella, Neosho, Missouri; one sister, Kathryn Church, Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Jean Seigel, Yellville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-children; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
A visitation and graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery, 2000 Woodlawn Avenue, Coffeyville, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
