Jan Fagg, age 70, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. He was born on April 6, 1941, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Herbert Bryant and Oma Leone (Lee) Fagg. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1959. Jan married Barbara Bentley in 1962; this union was blessed with four children. They later divorced. Jan worked as a truck driver before going to work as an ironworker. He later worked as a boilermaker and pipefitter. He retired from the pipefitter's union in 2006. He enjoyed bluegrass music, working on old tractors and equipment and haying, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren. Jan was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Fagg and Jerry Fagg; and one sister, Sally Marmon. He is survived by three sons, Timothy A. Fagg and Lori White of Garnett; Terry L. Fagg and wife Sheila of Sayre, Alabama; Thomas R. Fagg and wife Crystal of Garnett; one daughter, Christina K. VanNorman and husband Tom of LaCygne, Kansas; his sister Rachel Webb Tomball, Texas; his twin sister Ina Newman and husband Francis of Paige, Arizona; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; and his companion, Betty Slagle of Garnett. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the West Scipio Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses.
