Jane McCoy, of Garnett, Kansas, formerly a longtime resident of Manhattan, Illinois, passed peacefully on Easter Sunday night. She is survived by her daughter Sheila McCoy and her favorite son-in-law Dennis Hachenberg of Garnett, Kansas, one sister Rita McQueen of Wilton Center. Numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends also survive. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Donald Francis McCoy, sister and brother-in-law Marjorie and Peter Rampa Sr., brother and sister-in-law Jack and Marie Ritchie, brother-in-law Raymond McQueen, one niece Kathryn Ann McQueen and one nephew Peter Rampa Jr. Jane was born in Wilmington, Il., the daughter of John and Nona (Kelly) Ritchie, and a graduate of Wilmington High School. She was united in marriage to Donald Francis McCoy on June 23, 1956 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Sheila. Jane loved life, filling it with Faith, Family, Friends, Community, Fun and more Fun. Throughout her life, Jane was active in her parish, St. Rose in Wilmington and St. Joseph in Manhattan. She was honored as the CCW Woman Of The Year in 1982. She participated in a number of service and social organizations. Jane enjoyed golfing. On June 7, 1983, she became the first woman to score a hole-in-one at the Silver Oaks Golf Course. Throughout all of her life's activities she most treasured fun and friendship. In November of 2006, Don and Jane moved from the "Garden Spot of the World" (Manhattan), to the Inn At Willow Falls in Crest Hill, where they made many "Forever" friends. In May of 2010, they decided to move to Garnett, Kansas to be near their family. They were warmly welcomed by that community, again making many new friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday April 14 at St. Joseph Church in Manhattan, Illinois. Memorials may be made to either Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care Activity Fund or to St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic School.
