Janet Hermreck

Janet Hermreck, age 73, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the Life Care Center of Kansas City in Kansas City, Kansas. Janet was born on August 10, 1938, at Harris, Kansas, the daughter of Warren M. and Ruth (Rudisill) Whiteford. Janet graduated from Garnett High School in 1957. She then attended Pittsburg Teacher's College. In 1959 Janet was united in marriage to Michael Kirk. Two children were born to this union, Dena and Bryan. Janet and Mike later divorced. On February 17, 1979 Janet was united in marriage to Donald Hermreck. A daughter, Elizabeth, was born to this union. Their marriage added Don's two children, Donna and Mark, to her family. She worked in the Anderson County Engineer's office, and various jobs around Garnett. She enjoyed needlework and sewing, making doll clothes for ECKAN, crossword puzzles, reading mystery books, and going to the lake to watch the ducks. Most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren, family and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Marilyn Milroy and Martha Cherry; husband Donald Hermreck in 1983; grandson Andrew James; and stepson Mark Hermreck. She is survived by her children; Dena Watkins and husband, Eric of Kearney, Missouri; Bryan Kirk and wife, Sara of Louisville, Kentucky; Elizabeth Laisure and husband, Jeff of Lowell, Michigan; Donna Kellerman and husband George of Garnett; fifteen grandchildren, Katie Baker of Wichita, Kansas; Kristin Peterman of Goddard, Kansas; Megan Baker of Kansas City, Missouri; Denice Naquin of Lafayette, Louisiana; Kathryn, Malcolm, Zachary and Jacob Kirk all of Louisville, Kentucky; Cortana Laisure of Lowell, Michigan; Jack Kellerman of Berea, Kentucky; Mike Kellerman of Garnett, Kansas; Rob Kellerman of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Sally Grobelny of Fenton, Missouri; Jesse Hermreck of Topeka, Kansas; fourteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Mrs. Hermreck will lie in state on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Alzheimer's Association and left in care of the funeral home.
